Friendship Village
The name says it all for MAHSA member Friendship Village, who’s caring, dedicated, and “friendly” employees make the community a special place to call home.
Founded in 1975, Friendship Village-Kalamazoo along with Woodside at Friendship Village and the soon to be completed Garden Homes at Friendship Village is a Continuing Care Retirement Community providing life care to senior citizens desiring to “age in place.”
Approximately 345 people currently reside at Friendship Village and another 40 are expected to move in once the Garden Home project is finished this year.
Housing options range from independent living apartments and condominiums to an assisted living facility to a skilled care nursing home. Home health is available to those who need it, and the assisted living facility has a 13-unit special care neighborhood within it to cater to the needs of residents with Alzheimer's and other memory-related disorders. The Garden Homes, when complete, will meet the needs of active seniors who desire a more spacious retirement living option for cherished furniture and belongings.
Also known as a great place to work, Friendship Village employs 270 hard-working Michiganians. “Our employees are dedicated to our residents,” says Stan Clouse, Executive Director. “We have employees with significant years of longevity and in some cases all the way back to the first year the community opened.”
Appreciating seniors on a daily basis and providing Michigan’s greatest generation with the services they need is what puts the “friend” in Friendship Village. The work is far from easy, but for this community doing the right thing for the right reasons for the right segment of society is what being a long-term care provider is all about.
